Does the board come to a complete stop going downhill?Updated 25 days ago
If youâre testing your board on a hill and noticing that it still rolls a little even when holding full brake, this is completely normal. All of our boards are designed to slow you down with controlled resistance, but they wonât come to a full mechanical stop on a steep decline.
đ Why doesnât it hold completely still?
Unlike a car or scooter with disc brakes, electric skateboards use regenerative braking via brushless DC motors. That means:
The braking system creates resistance to slow you down, but it doesnât physically lock the wheels.
On a slope, especially when youâre on the board, thereâs not enough resistance from the motor alone to hold it still.
Add rider weight and gravity, and some movement is expected.
This is a limitation of how current flows through the motorâit can resist motion but canât fully stop it like a handbrake. Thatâs why the board might roll slightly on a hill, especially under load.
đ What you should expect
On moderate hills, the brake should feel strong and responsive under your feet.
On steep inclines, the board may still roll slowly when stopped.
This doesnât mean anything is wrong with your board or the brake system.
â Tip for safety
Always step off your board and place a foot on the ground when coming to the spot at which you would like to stop. Donât rely on the brake alone to hold position when stationary on a slope.
